Nurture Yourself This Winter

Updated: Nov 13, 2023

Now that the colder weather is here and the end of the year approaches, it's the perfect time to escape the chaos of the run up to Christmas and try some simple self care to nurture yourself this Winter.

I've combined two fabulous treatments to help you nurture yourself this winter and to relax and revive your body, mind an soul. A blissful aromatherapy back, neck and shoulder massage, followed by deluxe facial reflexology. Sink into the cosy cocoon of the heated treatment bed and fluffy towels and immediately feel the calming effects as your body starts to relax. This deluxe Winter Nurture Treatment will be your tranquil sanctuary from the world outside.

Take care of your skin

The heating is on, it's cold outside and your skin can start to feel a little dryer. As well as making sure you keep well hydrated, it's also important to take care of your skin. I find the Neal's Yard products great for my own skincare and I also use the Frankincense cleanser in all facial reflexology treatments. The Intense Facial Collection of Frankincense toner, cleanser and cream is beautiful. And always remember your sun cream, even in Winter!

Unwind

As the evenings get shorter and darker its the perfect time to cosy up with a good book, or movie and relax. Or unwind after a long day in a luxurious foaming bath with a calming blend of ylang ylang, patchouli and clary sage essential oils.

Stay warm

It's also important to keep warm, especially in areas of the body where we hold tension like the neck and shoulders. The cold can aggravate any pain in the body, as can stress or your posture from sitting all day, and from looking at screens. If you are prone to pain in the neck and shoulders, get some heat into those muscles by wearing a scarf when outdoors or using a wheat pack indoors. A warm bath with Epsom salts can also be beneficial, as can a blissful aromatherapy back neck and shoulder massage.

Sleep well

You may feel that you need more sleep during Winter, which may be because of the darker evenings and colder temperatures. Try to do what you can to improve your sleep routine. Add some daily exercise to your routine, even if it's a 10 minute walk as this can help boost your natural sleep hormone melatonin. Perhaps limit screen time an hour before bed, and try reading instead. Have a bath or shower in the evening to help relieve some of the tension in your body after a long day. Aim to go to bed and wake up around the same time every day. If your struggling with sleep, reflexology is a great way to release tension and stress in the body and aid improved sleep.

Stay cosy, and look after yourself!
